About Kat E.
You might be noticing a pattern of concerning behaviors in your child and wonder if there is an underlying reason for this. Or maybe you have gone through a traumatic experience in your past that has seemed to follow you to the present and prevents you from feeling like yourself. If you resonate with either of these and are unsure of what to do next, I’m here to help. I like to think that the bravest thing someone can do is ask for help. Although life inevitably comes with its hardships, it does not have to be an endless experience consisting of anxiety, depression, and frustration.
As a therapist, I strongly value social justice and cultural competency. Within the therapeutic space, this looks like viewing you or your child as complete integrated beings, acknowledging the systems you are a part of, the systemic barriers you may face, and meeting you where you are at to create an intentional therapeutic relationship. You can expect your therapeutic experience with me to be centered around the two (or more) of us working together in collaboration to make sure that you are receiving treatment that works for you, your family, and your child. I am committed to work alongside you and your family as you navigate life transitions and the challenges they bring.
Finding a therapist that gets you can be intimidating. A big reason why I became a therapist was going through adverse life experiences early on in life and as a result, feeling misunderstood and like no one really got me. Within the therapeutic space, you can expect to feel like the person in front of you sees you for everything you are, and never for the things you are not. One thing I have heard frequently from clients is that they feel safe to be themselves, but are also being challenged on their negative thinking/behavioral patterns. If you appreciate a sensitively direct and honest approach, contact the office to find out more. Whatever you, your child, or your family are going through, I dedicate myself to finding interventions that allow you to find peace in life’s chaotic ways using a variety of therapeutic methods to meet you where you’re at.“My goal is to support both the child and the parent, helping you feel more connected and more confident in how to show up for your child.”
