about Kelly o.
“I bring a unique blend of professional expertise and personal experience to my work with families. Growing up in a complex, blended family, I've navigated the intricacies of family dynamics firsthand. These experiences have deepened my empathy and fueled my passion for supporting young children and families through life's challenges.
I specialize in working with children ages four and older, helping them navigate grief, divorce, behavioral challenges, transitions, anxiety, and social struggles. My role as a mother has further enhanced my understanding of the joys and struggles that come with raising children, allowing me to connect more deeply with the families I serve.
My journey began many years ago with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism, which honed my communication skills and taught me the power of storytelling. This foundation, combined with years of experience in early childhood and elementary education, has given me a unique perspective on child development and family systems. Currently, I'm pursuing my Master's in Social Work at Erikson Institute, deepening my understanding of child-centered therapeutic approaches.
I believe in the importance of a holistic, relational approach to therapy. By creating a safe, nurturing space, I help children express their feelings and experiences in age-appropriate ways. Together, we work on developing coping strategies, building resilience, and fostering healthy relationships within the family system. My goal is to empower children and families to find their inner strength and navigate life's challenges with confidence.
In my practice, I recognize that every child's journey is unique. Whether a child is struggling with the loss of a familiar routine, adjusting to a new family structure, or grappling with anxiety, I'm here to provide support and guidance. I work closely with families to ensure that the child's voice is heard and that parents feel equipped to support their child's emotional growth.
When I'm not in the therapy room or immersed in my studies, I find joy in spending quality time with my family. You might find me lost in the pages of a novel or taking peaceful nature walks, practices that help me maintain balance and perspective in my own life. These moments of self-care reinforce my belief in the importance of nurturing oneself to better care for others.”
"With compassionate guidance and the right tools, families and children have an incredible capacity to heal and grow. Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities for connection and resilience."
